Information on doctoral studies

Thesis

I assign dissertation theses in the field of German, European and International Corporate Law, Capital Markets and Banking Law as well as (European) Private Law. I have a particular interest in methodological approaches at the intersection of law and economics.

Requirements

For acceptance as a doctoral candidate, I generally require a high grade in the First or Second State Law Examination. The exam grade should therefore have a double-digit score. Applicants should also already have a clear idea of possible dissertation topics that interest them. Applicants from other universities should also fulfill the doctoral requirements of their home university. Information on the general requirements for admission to the doctoral program at the Department of Law and Economics of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz can be found here.

Request and acceptance

f you would like to write a dissertation thesis under my supervision and meet the above requirements, please contact me with an appropriate letter, enclosing the following documents/details:

  • Field of interest
  • Overview of academic achievements
  • Exam grade
  • Curriculum vitae

Final acceptance as a doctoral candidate will only take place after the preparation of an exposé on the jointly selected thesis topic. The exposé may also serve as a basis for the application for a doctoral scholarship. Its completion should not exceed three months.
