Doctorate with a thesis on corporate law ("Organwalterhaftung für Eigenschäden von Kapitalgesellschaftern") at the University of Mainz in 2003. Second state examination in law in 2004. Master of Laws (LL.M.), NYU School of Law, New York, 2006. Research fellow at the Institute for Commercial and Business Law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn with Prof. Dr. Holger Fleischer, LL.M. from 2006 to 2009. Senior research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, assistant to Prof. Dr. Holger Fleischer and responsible for the country desk Switzerland from 2009 to 2012. Habilitation in 2012 on a civil law topic ("Legal Paternalism and Behavioral Economics in Family, Corporate and Consumer Law") at Bucerius Law School, Hamburg. Acting professor at the University of Marburg in 2012/2013. Offer of a Business and Corporate Law Professorship at the University of Marburg (declined) and at the University of Erlangen (accepted). Professor for Private, Commercial, Corporate and Business Law at the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg from 2013 to 2023. Joining the Faculty of Law, Management and Economics at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2023 as a Professor for Civil Law, Commercial and Business Law, Comparative Law.
